Exhibit curator Jennifer Heath will speak at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, in France Frazier Comstock Theatre.

"(Dis)covering the Veil: Visible and Invisible Spaces," curated by Jennifer Heath, features the work of 26 artists, each of whom considers the veil's many manifestations and interpretations, and investigates veils and veiling in their broadest contexts. This exhibition intends to engage received wisdom about the veil including current cliches and stereotypes about Islamic practices and to reflect on the great ubiquity, importance and profundity of the veil throughout human history and imagination.

This exhibition explores landscape in her depiction of a spiritually significant environment through printmaking and mixed media. The work is a blending of media and imagery that references the flora and fauna of this place as well as glimpses of people who have walked this land. A compelling expression of the artist's love and respect for the natural world, this exhibition will stir the senses and the soul and provide a unique way to experience the beauty of our environment.

This annual exhibition features the diversity and creativity of student work that emerges from the art department in areas of sculpture, graphic design, ceramics, printmaking, drawing and painting. This year's juror, Dwight Mickelson, is a metalworker, furnituremaker and sculptor.

Annual Concordia Faculty Art Exhibition

This annual exhibition features the recent work of Concordia art faculty David Boggs, Heidi Goldberg, Ross Hilgers, Mike Marth, Duane Mickelson and Steven Rezac. Faculty members work in a variety of media including bronze, clay, graphic design, oil, photography, printmaking processes and watercolor.

Senior Art Exhibition

This exhibition celebrates those graduating in May 2012 with an art, art education, graphic design or art history major. Students will exhibit selections of their strongest work from their artistic careers at Concordia.
