Religion
Why Study Religion at Concordia?
Preparing for SeminaryIn recent years, Concordia has prepared more candidates for ELCA-rostered ministry than any other college or university in the nation - and many of these candidates are religion majors advised through our preseminary program. Here you'll find the religion courses, careful guidance from faculty and the advisement you need to prepare for seminary and eventually a career in ministry, youth ministry, graduate studies in religion, military chaplaincy, parish education or more.
Thanks to our liberal arts emphasis, you'll also have the opportunity to take complementary courses, including Hebrew, history, philosophy, languages, sociology, classical studies, English, and psychology. Pair your religion major with a second major and further increase your opportunities.
Diverse Offerings
Not all of our majors attend seminary - in fact, many of our grads go on to law school, teaching, graduate school, the Peace Corps, youth ministry and a variety of other careers. Our diverse course offerings and faculty specialties help you tailor your major to your own interests and plans. Explore different religions worldwide – including Islam, biblical studies, faith traditions, ethics, religion and culture, and even religion and film. It's all possible at Concordia.
